Our Window Installation Process
Through our partnerships with Alpine Windows and PlyGem Windows, our window installation team has developed our own in-house window installation process. This allows our teams to complete these complex installs in a fraction of the time and ensures that our clients enjoy a water- and air-tight installation method to keep their homes protected and energy-efficient.
Prep
The first step in any window installation process is to prepare the rough opening. This rough opening needs to be large enough for the window, but not too big, as you will need to insulate the window from the cold. If we are replacing a window, we will clean up the old molding, flashing and insulation before prepping the site for the new installation.
Dry Fit and Shim
Next, we will place the window in the opening and use shims to ensure it is level, square, and plumb. This is going to take some time to get right, and our window installation experts will use a variety of methods and tools to make sure we are perfectly square, even on an older home with a warped, sunken window opening.
Secure and Seal
The next step is to secure that shimmed window into the frame. For most of our replacement window units, we will fasten them through their flanges using screws on the side, bottom and top of the window. Then we can apply waterproof sealant behind the nailing flange to create a waterproof barrier.
Insulate
The final step is to fill any gap between the frame and the rough opening with insulation or spray foam. This will ensure that you are not getting drafts through these gaps, which is essential for keeping your home energy efficient. We will also install flashing tape over the side, top, and bottom flanges to create a watertight seal against the exterior environment.
Types of Windows
Vinyl Windows
Vinyl windows are the most popular window style due to their durability and cost-effectiveness. Unlike other
options on the market, this window type can withstand weather and is UV- resistant, preventing cracking, damage, or warping. Vinyl windows are the best of both worlds, as they offer long-lasting performance with low maintenance.
Bay Windows
Bay windows are an amazing investment if you are looking to increase your curb appeal and square
footage. With our bay window options, you can customize the look and feel of the window while enjoying a solid base for a reading nook, a plant sanctuary, or the perfect spot for a Christmas village.
Garden WIndows
Garden windows are a great option for those looking to create a mini greenhouse off their kitchen or family
room. With a 90-degree outward-projecting window space, these smaller, box-shaped windows are a great addition to any renovation. These windows are the ideal spot for live herbs, a bouquet of flowers or your collection of succulents.
Picture Windows
Picture windows are your traditional windows with an unobstructed view and natural light. These large, stationary flat glass panes are great for those who want to maximize light and are not looking for a fancy window with hardware.
